Dromone HAL system picks up major safety award

Pick-up hitch specialists, Dromone Engineering, have won a prestigious award in the Farm Safety category of the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena Awards 2020 with their Hitched & Locked (HAL) system.

The annual event showcases ground-breaking Agri-related products and innovations from Irish Agri-companies at the National Ploughing Championships. This year, the competition was moved fully online due to the cancellation of the Ploughing Championships as a result of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

HAL is the first pick-up hitch with an in-cab alert system to ensure safe coupling. It is an electronic monitoring system that provides positive confirmation that the trailer has been hitched safely and the locking mechanisms have engaged. The pick-up hitch has integrated rugged sensors and a control box providing an audible and visual signal to the cab. Unlike conventional indicators that can show a false positive, the HAL system uses multiple sensors to reliably alert the operator of an unhitched and unlocked pick-up hitch.

The HAL project is aligned with Dromone’s ethos of maximising safety and productivity to their customers and developing innovative ideas that will enable the company to provide higher value-added technology solutions for agriculture pick-up hitches.

Lynx Engineering is the UK importer and distributor for Dromone products which are available across the Lynx dealer network.
